چکیده

The objective of present work was to assess differences in spectrum, coherence, and phase synchrony of topical electroencephalogram (EEG) between alcohol-dependent individuals and healthy participants. Surface currents were mitigated by a common average spatial filter. Parametric spectral and coherence estimates obtained for consecutive 0.5s-long EEG fragments were generally lower for alcoholics than for controls while evaluated for low EEG rhythms. Phase synchrony computed for 2.34s-long overlapping EEG fragments was lower for alcoholics than for controls while evaluated in α(2) and β(1) rhythms and for specific electrode pairs. Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance evaluated these alterations as statistically significant.

Brain Connectivity Reflected in Electroencephalogram Coherence in Individuals With ‎Autism: A Meta-analysis

Introduction: Many theories have been proposed about the etiology of autism. One is related to brain connectivity in patients with autism. Several studies have reported brain connectivity changes in autism disease. This study was performed on Electroencephalogram (EEG) studies that evaluated patients with autism, using functional brain connectivity, and compared them with typically-developing i...

Coherence, phase differences, phase shift, and phase lock in EEG/ERP analyses.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) coherence is a mixture of phase locking interrupted by phase shifts in the spontaneous EEG. Average reference, Laplacian transforms, and independent component (ICA) reconstruction of time series can distort physiologically generated phase differences and invalidate the computation of coherence and phase differences as well as in the computation of directed coherence a...

Evaluating Interpersonal Synchrony: Wavelet Transform Toward an Unstructured Conversation

This study examined whether interpersonal synchrony could be extracted using spectrum analysis (i.e., wavelet transform) in an unstructured conversation. Sixty-two female undergraduates were randomly paired and they engaged in a 6-min unstructured conversation. Interpersonal synchrony was evaluated by calculating the cross-wavelet coherence of the time-series movement data, extracted using a vi...

Investigating The Effects of Modem Electromagnetic Waves (2.4 GHz) on Electroencephalogram

With respect to the dramatic increasing use of electronically communicators and wireless modems, concerns have been raised about the possible effects of emitted electromagnetic radiation on human brain. In this paper, the effects of high-frequency wireless modem waves on the brain signal are investigated. To this end, the Electroencephalograph (EEG) recording of 15 volunteers is examined in fou...
